Johannesburg’s iconic “double-decker” highway is a 1.1 km section of the M1 in the city centre, between the Carr Street and Anderson Street interchanges. 

Built as two reinforced concrete decks stacked one above the other, it is a key north–south route linking the southern suburbs like with the north.
